Pocket Informant 8.1 Released

WebIS has relased Pocket Informant 8.1, an incremental upgrade to one of the most popular super-PIMs on the market for any device.
Major Improvements in 8.1 from 8.0:
  • 12 Key Search for Pocket PC - this is like T9 for search
  • Contacts rewritten so that it now is very fast
  • Improved Events view with groupings and more options
  • Improved Journal view with groupings and better view
  • Improved Touch mode
  • Major improvements to Smartphone all over the place
  • SmartPhone now supports Linking
  • Better one-handed usage
  • Default Number (SmartNum) now editable in the editor
  • A number of Template improvements

Pocket Informant 8 adds several new Franklin Covey Plan Plus for Outlook 5.0 (PPO) features such as the Daily Tasks, Master Tasks, Projects, Task Status, Percentage Completion, Daily Notes, and Weekly Planning. These features work perfectly within Pocket Informant™ without PPO. However for these features to sync up to the desktop you need to have PPO version 5.0 and Windows Mobile 5/6. PPO 5.0 ships with the sync conduit which syncs this data to the desktop. All of these features will work on both Windows Mobile 2003/SE and 5.0/6. Only the sync engine requires Windows Mobile 5/6.

It is a free upgrade for 8.0 users. Just launch the WebIS Update icon in your Programs menu to download and install. If you have an earlier version or a competitive product, see the website for upgrade eligibility and pricing.

Samsung i8510 Symbian S60 smartphone

Samsung is sooo serious when it comes to Symbian S60. Apparently, the Korean giant is preparing to launch the first smartphone with 8 megapixel camera. The so called Samsung i8510 will have the following specs:
  • 2.8-inch QVGA (240×320 pixels), 16 million colors
  • 8.0 megapixel camera with auto-focus and Xenon flash. Videos recording at 120 fps.
  • HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, TV out, DivX support, dedicated 3D graphics chip
  • Optical mouse, which we've already seen in earlier Samsung phones (i780 &and i900 Omnia)
  • 1200mAh battery
  • Metal casing, measuring 106.5×53.9×16.9 mm
  • 16 GB internal memory, though some sources mention 8 GB version as well

Nokia Chat is a new, GPS-aware software and instant messaging service which is being previewed through Nokia Beta Labs. Nokia Chat is an instant messaging and presence application with added location features. Generic location information can be shared via your presence message, via matching GPS position with selected existing (Nokia Maps) favourite places or you can send an ad-hoc exact location as a chat message.
Nokia Chat is more than just messaging. You can share your status and your location, giving you physical presence! Start a Nokia Chat with your friends with instant and voice messaging and finish it face-to-face. Get together with Nokia Chat – it’s where we are now.
Gerneral Features:
  • Chat helps you hook up with no hassles by sending your real-time location in an instant message. This unique feature lets your friend pinpoint your position and share her own on Nokia Maps.
  • Chance meetings with friends are made easy. Pick out your places on Nokia Maps and choose where you want to publish your presence. Chat automatically updates your location status when you arrive at your hangouts.
